TRENCHFIELD AND REID LEAD WEST INDIANS TO THE TOP
It remains tight at the top of the Globe Sports West of England Premier Two after Bristol West Indians and Keynsham both won their matches at the weekend.
The West Indians top the table thanks to a six-wicket victory at Taunton Deane.
Vincent Nembhard took 3-36 as Deane were held to 156-8. Opener Tom Webley top-scored with 39.
The Bristol side chased their target with relative ease, losing just four wickets along the way.
Jamie Trenchfield finished unbeaten on 54, while Reuben Reid made 40.
Keynsham had to fight much harder for their victory after making 161-8 against Bristol.
Russ Wakefield made 50 for the home side.
However, Richard Pannell claimed 4-27, while Dave Burston and Mark Cole collected three wickets apiece as Bristol were bowled out for 149, despite 37 from Paul Redwood.
Knowle gained a useful 32-run win at Westbury and District.
Majid Tara was the mainstay of the Knowle innings, as he made 92 in a total of 171 all out.
Tara eventually become the first of five victims for Philip Carroll.
Ben Whiting struck 41 in reply for Westbury but Jack Cresswell’s 5-39 and Jon Peters’ 3-33 finished the hosts off for 139.
Thornbury inflicted Trowbridge’s first defeat of the season in spectacular fashion at the Ship Ground.
Trowbridge were bowled out for 98 - although it could have been a lot worse but for 47 extras, including 38 wides. Juvaunie Gayle had figures of 4-27 for Thorns.
The home side made 99-2 in reply with Nick Stovold’s 30 not out and Chris Dent’s 38 not out being supplemented by 16 Trowbridge wides.
Lansdown remain near the foot of the table after a four-wicket home loss against Warminster.
Ben Staunton top-scored for Lansdown with 40 in a total of 173-9.
James Golding then took three wickets to reduce Warminster to 17-3 in reply, but 67 from Carl Clarke helped the visitors to 174-6 in the end.
